Special Training in EMDR

Well, I recently finished 3 more days of training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). EMDR is an extremely useful and powerful therapy technique used in helping people who suffer from trauma, anxiety, panic, disturbing memories, and post traumatic stress. Simply said, EMDR facilitates a reprocessing of information in the brain that has gotten stuck. I got my level one training about 1 1/2 years ago in Hong Kong. Since then I've used EMDR with a number of clients for a variety of issues. I've also had the chance to be involved in helping to supervise the MA counseling students at the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP) during and following their own level one training. RUPP is Cambodia's oldest and largest university. This picture shows a core group of these students. Three of them are interns at the counseling center I work at. This time around, I joined the students in taking the level two training with them. The picture below shows us with our special trainer. He is a gifted teacher, able to help the MA students really understand how this therapy works in the brain and in practice. I now feel much more prepared to use the therapy with more difficult clients. I'm currently using EMDR with three clients. One was a child during the Khmer Rouge regime, and it's been an amazing journey to go through the reprocessing of the experience with this client. A second client was in a motorcycle accident and has been suffering from disabling fear responses ever since. A third client...I guess I've not actually begun using the EMDR with this person yet...still in preparation stage. This person experienced severe daily abuse since childhood. This may be the most difficult client situation yet, but it is a privelege to be God's instrument in the life of one of His beloved ones, to lead them to healing. Just a thought for you, you can be a part through praying with me for these He's brought to me :).
Well, that's what's been up recently!
